Having trouble with your QuickBooks Interactive Training?

Review the following technical problems and their resolutions to quickly get up and running on your training software.

If You Can't See the Table of Contents or Video Controls:

    Your Windows Display Setting may be set to use Large size (120 DPI). To adjust this:

    Windows 7:
  1. Right click on your desktop and select Personalize
  2. At the bottom left, click on the Display link
  3. Select 100%
  4. Click Apply
  5. Click Log off now to save settings
  6. Log in to Windows to see your changes

    Windows Vista:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize
  2. Beneath Tasks, select Adjust Font Size (DPI)
  3. Select Default scale (96 DPI)
  4. Click OK to save settings
  5. Restart the computer

    Windows XP/Windows 2000:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Properties
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Click the Advanced button
  4. Click the General tab
  5. Click the DPI Setting drop-down list and select Normal fonts
    (96 DPI)
    for Windows XP and Small fonts (96 DPI) for Windows 2000.
  6. Click OK twice to save settings
  7. Restart the computer


If You Can't See the Training Controls at the Bottom of Your Screen:

    QuickBooks Interactive Training products require a screen resolution setting of at least 1024 x 768 pixels. If you cannot see the controls, your screen resolution may be smaller than 1024 x 768. To adjust your screen resolution:

    Windows 7:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Screen Resolution
  2. Click the Resolution drop-down list
  3. Increase the resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher
  4. Click OK
  5. Click Keep changes to save settings

    Windows Vista:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize
  2. Towards the bottom, select Display Settings
  3. Make sure your Screen Resolution is set to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher
  4. Increase the resolution by clicking and dragging the slider to the right
  5. Click OK to save settings

    Windows XP/Windows 2000:
  1. Right click on your desktop and select Properties
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Make sure your Screen Resolution is set to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher
  4. Increase the resolution by clicking and dragging the slider to the right
  5. Click OK to save settings


If the Audio or Video Skips:

    Your Windows Hardware Acceleration is probably too high. To fix this:

    Windows 7:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Screen Resolution
  2. Towards the right, select Advanced settings
  3. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  4. Select Advanced Settings
  5. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the slider to None
  6. Click OK to save settings
  7. Click Log off now to save settings (if prompted)
  8. Log in to Windows to see your changes

    Windows Vista:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize
  2. Towards the bottom, select Display Settings
  3. Towards the right, select Advanced Settings
  4. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  5. Select Advanced Settings
  6. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the slider to None
  7. Click OK to save settings
  8. Restart the computer (if prompted)

    Windows XP/Windows 2000:
  1. Right click on your desktop and select Properties
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Click the Advanced button
  4. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  5. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the Slider to "None"
  6. Click OK twice to save settings


If You Hear Audio but Don't See Video:


    Windows 7:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Screen Resolution
  2. Select Advanced settings
  3. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  4. Select Advanced Settings
  5. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the slider to None
  6. Click OK to save settings
  7. Click Log off now to save settings (if prompted)
  8. Log in to Windows to see your changes

    Windows Vista:
  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize
  2. Select Display Settings
  3. Towards the right, select Advanced Settings
  4. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  5. Select Advanced Settings
  6. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the slider to None
  7. Click OK to save settings
  8. Restart the computer (if prompted)

    Windows XP/Windows 2000:
  1. Right click on your desktop and select Properties
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Click the Advanced button
  4. Click the Troubleshoot tab
  5. Decrease Hardware Acceleration by clicking and dragging the Slider to "None"
  6. Click OK twice to save settings


If You See Video but Don't Hear Audio:

    Ensure your computer volume is loud enough and not set to "mute"

    Windows 7:
  1. On the Windows Taskbar, click the Start Flag
  2. On the right, select Control Panel
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. Beneath Sound, select Adjust system volume
  5. Adjust the volume to the appropriate level and ensure the mute button is toggled to off
  6. Return to the training

    Windows Vista:
  1. On the Windows Taskbar, click the Start Flag
  2. On the right, select Control Panel
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. Beneath Sound, select Adjust system volume
  5. Adjust the volume to the appropriate level and ensure the mute button is toggled to off
  6. Return to the training

    Windows XP/Windows 2000:
  1. On the Windows Taskbar, click Start
  2. Select Settings > Control Panel
  3. Select the "Sounds and Audio Devices" Icon
  4. Adjust the volume to the appropriate level and ensure the mute box is unchecked.
  5. Click OK and return to the seminar
