There’s a Buzz Blowing Into the Windy City for Chicago Pizza Boss
When it comes to pizza, Chicago is not a town to be trifled with. Chicagoans take pizza as seriously as they take sports. And they’re the ultimate judges of a quality pie. So when Giuseppe Badalamenti and his wife, Antonella, contemplated going into the pizza business for themselves, they understood the challenges before them.
But with unrivaled passion for pizza and delicious family recipes in tow, the Badalamentis in October launched Chicago Pizza Boss, a 160-square foot, mobile pizzeria based in Westmont, Ill.
“It was a very slow October. Nobody knew who we were,” says Giuseppe, a 20-year veteran of the food sales and service industries. “We thought people would just migrate toward the truck, but that just hasn’t been the case. The realities of running a food truck didn’t take long to set in. But we’ve seen an increase in numbers since November.”
And with every pizza sold, the Badalamentis receive more positive feedback and affirmation that their quest to make and serve quality food is paying off. By all accounts, their authentic Neapolitan-inspired wood-fired pizzas, arancini, and panzarotti are legitimate hits.
Award to Help Owners Overcome Promotional Challenges
Given the huge promotional challenges associated with launching a pizza business in an ultra-competitive market, Giuseppe and Antonella are eager to spread the word about Chicago Pizza Boss. For that reason, they entered QuickBooks’ Small Business Local Buzz campaign.

This week, the Boss got a big break. The upstart pizza truck is the latest winner of a customized marketing package worth $5,000.
“It’s definitely a challenge to market your own business. The one thing you don’t have is experience,” Giuseppe says. “This reward is going to put us in the right position to be as successful as we possibly can be over the next eight months.”
