Just two months after Austin helped Megan Summerville win a Love a Local Business Grand Prize grant worth $30,000, Joey Gallahan’s customers have helped him win a $5,000 grant. Gallahan’s business, JWG Photography, is now one of three Finalists who will try to convince our judge that his business should win our next $30,000 grand prize Intuit Growth Grant.

In a Facebook post after he learned he was a winner, Gallahan even credited Megan with making him aware of the Love a Local Business grant competition, and thanked his fan Heather for submitting this winning nomination:

“Joey of JWG is an amazing photographer with excellent vision and an unstoppable drive and passion for his art. His ideas are creative, and he’s always willing to challenge himself to grow and evolve. Austin is lucky to have such talent.”

It’s clear that Austin loves it’s local businesses, and that local business owners support each other in many ways. The Austin Independent Business Alliance works to support local businesses with an “I Buy Austin” campaign, and hosts events for local business owners, like a luncheon next Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 on the subject of music and business.
