Bath & Body Bistro in Albuquerque, NM is our first November Love A Local Business winner! Intuit is awarding the business with a $25,000 hiring grant. Congratulations!

The winning vote comes from Terri, who praises the company for its innovation: “The inventive ideas for everyday products & they work!  Awesome lotions & soap!”  Bath & Body Bistro’s self-nomination shows how passionate the owners are about the products they create. “We are a small Company, but we do big things. We provide people the alternative to Commercial skincare! We are hard working women and dig what we do!”

Owners Debra Taylor de Sanchez and Michele Haskins are childhood friends who reconnected twenty-five years later. They were surprised to find that they each had started similar businesses. de Sanchez had started making and selling soaps with oatmeal and honey after finding commercial products were not effective in treating her son’s eczema, while Haskins had built an online store selling scented soaps. In January 2011, they merged their businesses and launched Bath & Body Bistro

Now, after just under a year in business, Bath & Body Bistro is growing and will soon be moving to a larger storefront. de Sanchez plans to use the grant to hire a part-time employee to help run the store and build on its current team of three.

As the fourth winner of the current Love a Local Business contest period, Bath & Body Bistro joins our three October winners to be considered for the Grand Prize for an additional $25,000. Are you looking to hire, but don’t have the funds? Nominate your business for a Love a Local Business grant today!
