Intuit Brews Up A Granted Wish for Coffee Roasting Couple
John and Pat Curry of Augusta, Georgia had their hearts set racing this week. And for once that reality didn't result solely from drinking the delicious java these expert coffee roasters proudly percolate.
"After three job layoffs in two and a half years, we became full-time coffee roasters in August 2011," the Currys explained in their online wish entry. "We're passionate about roasting and brewing the best coffee possible."
"It all began about five years ago when I started roasting coffee at home," John remembers. "And it tasted really great. Our friends would come by and say, 'Your coffee is so good, can I buy some?'"
Today, Buona Caffe specializes in artisan roasted coffee. It even does gift boxes and baskets, as well as coffee catering, coffee to-go boxes for meetings, and corporate gifts.
“We select premium green coffee beans, roast them on demand, seal them immediately in de-gassing bags, and deliver or ship them immediately,” the Currys advertise. But with the couple planning to finally open a coffee bar in their hometown, John and Pat expressed their wish for a Nuova Simonelli Aurelia -- the espresso machine of the World Barista Championship.
On Tuesday, following a tremendous outpouring of support and hundreds of reader votes, John and Pat were granted their wish.
"This is just crazy amazing," John Curry said in response to the news, adding that the timing couldn't be better. "Right now we are coffee roasters. In the new location, we'll have a coffee bar. Our customers have been asking us to do this almost since we started this business. I have a little espresso machine already, but it's just an average machine."
With the upgrade made possible through the granted wish, Buona Caffe's baristas will be able to give customers an even more exceptional coffee experience. Of course, it's not like customers weren't already raving about the Currys' coffee.
"We were just voted best coffee in Augusta by the readers of Augusta magazine," John says. "The last couple of years, Starbucks won all of those."
