Using accountant reports and templates

The Accountant Reports tab has reports that only you as the accountant user can see. The list includes Adjusted Trial Balance, Adjusting Journal Entries, Profit and Loss Comparison, and Balance Sheet Comparison. Management Reports are available to both you and your clients, but you will see a slightly different list of Management Reports than your client will.

Navigate to the Client Dashboard

The Client Dashboard is where you access the files of your clients who are on QuickBooks Online.

Identify the client, and click the QB icon in the Status column.

Open Accountant Reports

Click the briefcase icon. The Accountant Tools menu opens. Click Accountant Reports.

Open Management Reports

Click the briefcase icon. The Accountant Tools menu opens. Click Management Reports.

Management Reports are available to both you and your clients, but you will see a
slightly different list of Management Reports than your client will. Keep in mind that even as an accountant user you will only have access to the reports included in your client’s subscription level, in addition to the accountant-only reports.
With Management Reports you can customize report templates. Use any of the
pre-existing performance and overview report package templates as a starting point, and then copy, edit and save modified templates for future use. Here’s how

Edit a Management Report

From here you can name the template,

Add a cover page, logo, and cover title

A table of contents,

Add any number of preliminary pages. Then
use the built-in text editor to help insert the
content you need.

Click Add new report to see the a drop-down menu to add or remove reports to the Management Report package, and customize even more with over 40 report options to choose from.

You can add Custom reports to a Management Report template package easily.
Using the drop-down menu in the reports section, select the custom report you would like to attach, and it will be added to your custom template package.

You can add comparisons to previous years and previous periods as well.

Click Advanced to see advanced settings to add optional details like accountant name, firm name and report end date.

Once the edits are complete it’s simple to print, preview or export as a Word document or PDF and send to a client.

Note that any Management report templates you customize will then show your name as the creator, instead of QuickBooks.
