Celebrating Global Bookkeeping Week: what’s on?

2 min read

Global Bookkeeping Week (GBW) returns for its third year on Monday, October 16 until Friday, October 20. Over these five days, tens of thousands of bookkeepers will come together in celebration of their profession and the vital work they do. Launched by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) – the largest bookkeeping institute in the world – GBW aims to bring together the ICB global members community.

To help you celebrate, ICB has organised a number of initiatives and events exclusive to bookkeepers around the world. Here’s how you can get in on the action.

Enjoy a coffee with fellow bookkeepers

Take some time out of your busy schedule for a get-together with colleagues over some java at the Global Coffee Meetup on Wednesday, October 18. Use this opportunity to meet new people in your field, or get to know your acquaintances even better. Tweet or post a photo of your group raising a cup in celebration and tag ICB Australia, using the hashtags #RaiseACup17 and #GlobalBookkeepingWeek, for your chance to win a $50 voucher.*

*Raise a cup photo competition open to ICB members only.

Join the conversation

Make sure you show your support on social media, using the hashtags #GlobalBookkeepingWeek and #RaiseACup17 throughout the week. You can also use the hashtags to see what other members are up to throughout the week.

Tell your story

ICB initiative Bookkeeper Stories encourages all bookkeepers to share a story involving their profession. Is there a client success story that has really stuck with you? Perhaps you have a funny (or horrific) on-the-job encounter you’d like to share with your bookkeeping comrades? Maybe you just want to tell the world why you love what you do? You can email your story to ICB directly or post it on social media for the GBW team to share.

Hear from the leaders in bookkeeping tech

Grab a ticket to the Accountants Technology Showcase Australia (ATSA) where the ICB will be presenting a dedicated Bookkeeper Stream. Held over two days, October 16–17, you can learn about the latest software and technology for bookkeepers, like Receipt Bank, QuickBooks Online, and Workforce Guardian.

Tune into a global webinar

On Friday, October 20, bookkeepers from around the globe are invited to tune into a webinar hosted by ICB. From 9:00am to 5:00pm AEDST, switch on to hear discussions with some of the industry’s leading software providers.

Join in on the world’s largest gathering of bookkeepers

Get in on the action at the world’s largest gathering of bookkeepers at The Bookkeepers Summit. Held at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London on October 16 and 17, the conference is jam-packed with thought-provoking keynote speakers, engaging workshops, and exciting breakout sessions to keep you motivated and inspired.

Join the team

In honour of GBW, the ICB is waiving its $75 application fee for all non-members wanting to enrol. To make use of the offer, simply use the promo code GBW2017 at the checkout.

Bookkeeping Week is certainly the highlight of the calendar year for bookkeepers everywhere, and it’s not hard to see why. Which event are you most looking forward to?
