6 business apps every entrepreneur should use

By Intuit Australia

2 min read

What entrepreneur doesn’t want to work faster and smarter? These six business apps will help you do just that.

Running a business these days requires you to have top-notch organisational skills and be able to juggle a number of tasks throughout the day.

We spoke to Ben Barren, founder of SocialDesk, and got his recommendation for some apps that will help you stay on top of your business requirements and allow you to focus on what you most need to.

    Evernote

    System compatibility: Android, iOS, Windows
Cost: basic app, free premium version, US$47 per year
Evernote is the perfect note-taking app for every entrepreneur because it syndicates across all of your devices and you’re able to make notes and save attachments on your mobile phone. Later you can revisit these on your laptop or tablet. It’s very handy when you are on the road and don’t have access to the internet.

    Dropbox

    System compatibility: Android, iOS, Windows
    Cost: free
Cloud storage is becoming an integral part of doing business. For security and ease of access you can back up everything on Dropbox. Dropbox provides the storage options that you need to save large files, too, like high-resolution images. With Dropbox you can use any computer anywhere in the world to access all of your files.

    LinkedIn

System compatibility: Android, Blackberry, iOS, Windows
    Cost: free
As an entrepreneur, LinkedIn on your iPhone is invaluable when you’re on the move. Each time you read a media story about other entrepreneurs or a story related to your target market, connecting to these related parties ASAP is a must.

    Asana

    System compatibility: Android, iOS
    Cost: free
Asana can help your entire team manage and organise tasks and projects across all areas of the business. Instead of unnecessary email exchanges and potential miscommunication across projects, Asana can allow each individual project to have a to-do list saved in the cloud, enabling each team member to view updates and changes as they are made. Asana can also fully integrate with your CRM, which is an additional bonus.

    Shoeboxed

System compatibility: Android, Blackberry, iOS, Windows
    Cost: free
It is far too easy to lose receipts and track of the money spent on your business. Shoeboxed can save you time by extracting and recording data from your receipts, invoices and documents and storing it in your online account. Shoeboxed makes end of the month reconciliation far less time-consuming and is also a good tool to give you a snapshot of how funds are being spent.

    OfficeSuite

    System compatibility: Android, Blackberry, iOS
Cost: basic app, free premium, US$2.99
Microsoft is still a dominant format for communications, presentations and spreadsheets. OfficeSuite allows you to view, edit and create MS Word and MS Excel files, view PowerPoint and PDF documents and print, share or save to cloud services such
    as Dropbox.
