Meet the team
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at an award winning technology company that’s obsessed with solving customer problems? In our ‘Meet the team’ series, we take a look at how some of our team members are helping Intuit QuickBooks forge a path to success.
At Intuit, we’re passionate about powering prosperity around the world. We provide elegant and intuitive web, mobile, and cloud innovation that helps business owners do more, create more, and be more.
We’ve built a talented and passionate team, and it’s through the hard work and tenacity of our people that we’re able to solve some of the big problems that really matter to small businesses and advisors.
Meet Khon Chau, Intuit Staff Software Engineer.
How long have you been at Intuit? 7 Years
What three words would you use to describe Intuit?
Customer obsessed, Empathy, Community citizen
What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Intuit?
My favourite project was the AU Tax Centre, it was a complete backend and frontend rebuild of the tax centre for the Australian market using a global-ready design.
What is a typical day for you in a nutshell?
I start my day by checking emails and messages that have come in overnight, then work on my assigned stories. I’m usually implementing a new feature or investigating any product related issues.
I run a daily stand-up with the team every morning at 10am to talk about progress and any blockers that need help. As we’re working remotely, we have a 2 hour live working zoom session, which helps keep us connected.I also run other sprint ceremonies depending on where we are at in the sprint:
• Quality Assurance Prioritisation and Sprint Planning at the start of the sprint
• Epic reviews and backlog grooming during the sprint
• Sprint review and retro at the end of the sprint
I’ll work a lot with our cross-functional teams (PM and XD) to understand and solve for our customers’ pain points. This includes:
• Follow me homes to understand our customer pain points
• Determine tech feasibility for proposed solutions
• Break down solutions into smaller stories to be implemented
• Work with global teams to understand other domains in the product for collaboration or contribution
• Code reviews for other team members
What Intuit perks do you love most?
I love that at Intuit staff wellbeing is prioritised and it’s been even more important over the last year. The Wellbeing for Life Program is a great perk for full time staff that allows us to receive up to $1,000 per year to help with expenses related to many areas from physical to emotional well-being.
Intuit is hiring across a number of roles! We are a passionate, fun, high performing team and we’re looking for people who can see the future in what we do. We constantly seek inspiration and connect dots that no one else does and we don’t shy away from the world’s biggest problems. It takes courage. We’ve got an ambitious road ahead, will you be part of the journey?
