At QuickBooks®, we know that when small businesses thrive, we all do. Indeed, small businesses are the driving force behind the U.S. economy, responsible for 70 percent of new jobs created, and accounting for 99.9 percent of all businesses in the country.
National Small Business Week is a time to celebrate and recognize the contributions of small business owners and self-employed entrepreneurs to not just the overall economy, but to their local communities as well. In fact, according to a recent survey from QuickBooks, American consumers want to support their local businesses: 90 percent of U.S. consumers are more likely to buy from a store where they feel they have a relationship with the seller, and nearly half (49 percent) are much more likely to do so.
This finding demonstrates that communities need small businesses, and small businesses need the support of their local communities and fan bases. After all, we know that the corner cafe, Mom and Pop hardware store, a favorite boutique and all the other small businesses that dot your town are what make it home — and they couldn’t exist without their loyal customers.
Intuit’s mission is to power prosperity around the world and support those that dare to dream every day of the year. For National Small Business Week, we’re excited to be both spotlighting some deserving SMBs and participating in events that will help the entire small biz community. From May 5 – 10, some ways QuickBooks will be celebrating National Small Business Week and continuing to back those who don’t back down include:
- Small Business Administration Panel — The Next Wave in Digital Commerce: To kickoff National Small Business Week on May 5, QuickBooks’ Rishav Chopra will speak on a panel alongside executives from Visa and Square on digital commerce. During their conversation, Rishav and his co-panelists will discuss best practices for small businesses interested in acquiring new customers and how to drive more revenue by harnessing digital technology. This panel will be broadcast from the National Small Business Week Award Ceremony and will be live streamed on the SBA’s Facebook here at 4 p.m. ET.
- Small Business Administration Virtual Conference: Join QuickBooks and more than 9,000 small business owners as they virtually attend the largest nationally-recognized small business event on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET. QuickBooks will be participating at the virtual conference as a partner “booth” sharing resources that every SMB can use to fuel their business including product information, training resources and more. Beyond the QuickBooks booth, you’ll able to listen in on conference sessions, attend virtual mentoring programs, or make new connections by networking in the virtual lounge.
