Tell us a little bit about Wagepoint.

We are simple payroll software created just for small businesses. And, by simple, we really mean simple. We’ve designed our software to be incredibly easy to use.

The second keyword is payroll. That’s all we do, small business payroll. We’re ideal for small businesses that just need a tool to automate calculations and tax remittances.

We also have all the features that a modern small business needs, including direct deposit and an online employee portal with access to paystubs and T4s and a better way to appease the tax gods.

For anyone who’s currently going through the year-end functions associated with payroll, our transparent, contract-free pricing includes generating T4s and T4As at year-end.

Pro tip: The December time frame is also one of the best times to either switch or start using payroll software. Intrigued? Stop by the Wagepoint booth to learn more.

How does Wagepoint work with QuickBooks?

Our integration with QuickBooks Online lets you automatically sync your total wages, taxes, reimbursements and contractor payments from Wagepoint into your accounting software. It’s just one more way to streamline your back-office processes and banish manual data entry from your life.

Labour is often one of the most significant costs you have. By letting your payroll software talk to your accounting software, it’s easier to have a more complete picture of your finances.

You’ll be exhibiting at QuickBooks Connect in Toronto, December 9-11. Tell us what attendees can expect to see from your team.

First and foremost, attendees can expect to connect with us and ask all those questions they’ve been meaning to ask about our software. You can meet the people of Wagepoint and get to know us.

For hands-on learners and first-timers, our demo is ready whenever you are. We’d be glad to sit with you and give you a look inside Wagepoint.

For ProAdvisors who know us well, it’s a chance to say hi and check in to tell us how we’re doing and how else we can help.

After hours, it’s all about letting our hair down. Conga line, anyone?

Your team has joined us at previous QuickBooks Connect events. What keeps you coming back?

The entire experience is what keeps us coming back. We know that at least once a year we’ll get to connect one-on-one with our customers using QuickBooks Online. It’s also really interesting to see how the entire ecosystem of apps and the world of cloud-accounting continues to grow. It’s honestly an exciting time to be an app.

What advice do you have for small businesses?

Payroll isn’t sexy. We know this. But, you don’t have to make things harder on yourself. Cloud-based software, like Wagepoint, and the other apps you’ll meet at QuickBooks Connect help small businesses level the playing field. Technology that was once reserved for the giants of industry is now fully within your reach.

On a micro level, whether you’re attending this event or not, take the time to connect with your peers. Many business owners face the same struggles and you definitely don’t have to go it alone. If you’re at the event, be brave and say hi to the people in your sessions and on the event floor. You never know who you’ll meet and how it will help you “Own the Future.”

This year’s event theme is Own the Future. What makes your team excited about the opportunities ahead in the new world of work? How does Wagepoint help small businesses grow and fuel their success?

As the North American workforce grows more tech-savvy so does the trend of remote work.

Studies have shown that employee retention rates increase by 10% when businesses allow for remote work and that 85% of the millennial workforce would prefer to work from home full-time.

At Wagepoint, all of our employees are remote. The same is true for many of the accounting and bookkeeping firms who use our software. Because our software is online, our accounting and bookkeeping partners can access Wagepoint from anywhere there’s an internet connection.

The same is true for small businesses using Wagepoint, which is invaluable because not every job is a desk job. In today’s day and age, we’re all on the move and Wagepoint makes it easy to access your payroll from anywhere.

In fact, we’ve had some pretty interesting stories of payroll being processed on the beach in Tahiti, or less exotically, in the parking lot by the ice rink. (Very Canadian, though.)

What are you most excited about for this year’s event?

“Ground control to Major Tom.” Um, hello, there’s going to be an astronaut as a keynote speaker. Seriously, we’re really excited just to be in the same building as Chris Hadfield.

Celebrity gazing aside, it’s all about the people. We get to reconnect with familiar faces and meet an entirely new group of soon-to-be friends.

What’s on your team’s must-do list during QBC Toronto?

Hug as many ProAdvisors and small business owners as we can. For those with personal space issues, a high-five will suffice.

Meet Wagepoint and other key partners by joining us at QuickBooks Connect in Toronto. Check out this year’s agenda, speakers, and sponsors – and register now to save your spot.
