Zootly May Help Your Moving Company Attract More Business

2 min read

As the owner of a moving company, you want to use your trucks and personnel to the max, and it’s frustrating when you can’t. That frustration is matched by the people who have moving needs but can’t find the help they require. This is where Zootly comes in. Think of it as Uber for movers, connecting people in need of movers with companies that have available truck space and time.

What Is Zootly?

Zootly began when its founder needed a little help with a small move. Like many folks, he assumed, "There’s an app for that" — until he realized there wasn’t. So he developed an app designed to bring together moving companies with people who need them. Zootly doesn’t do any of the actual moving. But, in connecting people, it’s on the cusp of transforming the moving industry.

Zootly took off to great success in late 2015 in New York City. It opened its doors in Toronto in June 2016 after a successful pilot program there. Expansion to other Canadian cities is planned.

How Zootly Works

From the user’s point of view, Zootly is simple. Users just download the free app and answer a few questions about their immediate moving needs. Zootly matches the need with a local moving company that has trucks and personnel available and then provides an estimate. Zootly’s fee is 25% of the total charges, and the company handles all the payments. Users especially like Zootly because they don’t have to book their moves months in advance. They can also call on the service if they just have one item to move, such as a sofa or refrigerator.

Zootly’s goal isn’t to replace the moving companies in your area but to provide a supplemental service that can drive business your way. Zootly vets each moving company it signs onto the service, making sure they’re properly licensed and insured, so users feel secure booking a move. In addition, Zootly pays attention to each company’s reviews and maintains stringent requirements for the companies it includes in its listings. In its initial venture in New York, only about one-third of the companies that applied were accepted.

How Can Zootly Help You?

As a moving company, you have a few surefire ways to get out the message about your services. You can cultivate relationships with real estate agents and hope they refer you, and you can offer incentives to happy customers whose friends book a move with you. Of course, you can also paint your name and phone number on the sides of your trucks so everyone remembers you when it’s time to move. Now, thanks to Zootly, you have the mobile economy at work for you. If you find your trucks standing idle more days each month than you’d like, give Zootly a call to discuss whether your moving company can meet its high standards.

Zootly fills in the gaps between moving companies and the customers who need them. If you want your moving company to reach more local customers, try taking advantage of Zootly’s services.
