Cost-Effective Ways to Boost Your Nonprofit’s Marketing Campaigns

1 min read

Marketing a nonprofit with little to no budget can be challenging, but it is possible. The internet has opened up a wide range of outlets for savvy nonprofits to advertise and raise funds without breaking the bank.

One of the most effective marketing strategies for nonprofits is creating an engaging video that appeals to the viewers’ emotions. A professionally shot video may be outside of your budget constraints, but these days, even the most basic smartphones can shoot a video that has the potential to go viral.

The ability to reach millions without spending a cent is why producing viral video content is one of the marketing avenues with the highest potential for returns. There is very little risk involved with shooting a cheap video, as the worst-case scenario is that people don’t share it. If they do, you can produce tremendous results. Just look at the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, for example. Get creative with your video, and the possibilities are endless.

Targeted social media marketing is another potentially powerful strategy that requires very little upfront investment. For instance, if you get a hashtag trending on Instagram, you can reach a massive audience, and it’s free. You can also pay a relatively low fee for sponsored ads on Facebook that can reach a very specific niche audience.

Facebook ads offer a variety of tools that let you hone in on users with similar interests, so you can make sure every cent spent on getting the ad out there is used to its full potential. Make sure you only sponsor your best content, and encourage people to share it to help your cause. Sometimes, simply appealing to the good in people is the easiest and most effective way to get your message shared far and wide.
