Tips for Managing Your Small Business Social Media Across Multiple Platforms

To maximize efficiency, take advantage of some of the helpful social media management tools out there. A social media dashboard is ideal for bringing all your accounts under one umbrella so that you don’t need to log in to them individually.

Once you connect your accounts to your dashboard of choice, the activity for each account is displayed when you visit your dashboard. You can reply to messages, publish posts, and take any other action you normally would. This saves you time, and it’s more efficient, because you’re less likely to miss any messages or comments.

Schedule Posts Ahead of Time

Posting content every day can become a hassle, but consistent content is key for keeping your business in people’s feeds. Fortunately, you can use an app to schedule your posts ahead of time. Just choose the app, create the posts, and schedule when you want them to run. To boost engagement, try to shoot for a posting schedule that matches when people are online. For instance, post in the afternoons and not late in the evenings or early in the mornings.

Prioritize Specific Social Networks

Your business should have a presence on all the major social networks, but you don’t need to commit the same amount of time to each one. You’re better off prioritizing one or two networks that fit your social media strategy the most. For example, if you have a photography business, Instagram is likely the best fit because it focuses on images.

Also focus on the networks where you get the most traffic and engagement (comments, likes, shares, and retweets). Keep in mind that a strong following on one platform beats weak followings across several platforms. On the platforms you don’t prioritize, you can keep a lighter posting schedule while still responding to messages and comments.

Keep Your Voice Consistent

Regardless of which platforms you prioritize, you need to maintain a consistent voice across every platform. Due to the differences in how platforms work and their demographics, you could find yourself using different tones on each platform. Unfortunately, if your voice is constantly changing, that can make your business sound inauthentic or unsure of its goals. Figure out what your business’s online voice is going to be like, and make sure everyone contributing to your social media accounts is on the same page.

Managing multiple social media accounts is no small feat, but the right approach and tools can make all the difference. At the beginning, plan to invest some time honing in on the right voice and finding tools to help you. That should make it easier to manage multiple accounts as you move forward.
