I myself don't want to see pop-ups when I'm using an online service I'm paying. Let me share a few things that you may consider to enhance your experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To clarify, are you referring to the in-product pop-ups? If so, they're designed to guide and suggest you how to optimize your QBO experience. But if they're affecting your navigation experience, I recommend clicking on the X or No, thanks buttons. This way, the pop-ups will keep from showing up again.
While QBO doesn't have the option to turn off any pop-ups, I encourage letting our developers know that this is something that they need to consider removing. To submit your feedback, click on the Gear icon, then Feedback. I'll also pass along your experience here on my end to support your feedback.

I'm with you. I don't need this. It was bad enough when it was the fewer words of "accept payments online" or something like that. Now it's a lot of words, bright blue, and RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WORKFLOW. I am in true online (desktop app has never worked well for me). Heaven forbid I accidentally don't get my mouse quite where it needs to be - this is a clickable link and oops I have to click yet again to say that I don't want to leave the screen.
Sometimes - no, many times - I think that software designers and marketing teams don't use their own software. In fact, I know they don't. This is a prime example. Marketing says it would be good to have this there. The developers put it there. But no one thought about what a nuisance/inconvenience/hazard this was for people who are actually using the program.

Joyce - what you are saying is FALSE. There are advertisements throughout the entire Quickbooks Online software platform.
PLEASE point me to one real comment from a user that says, "Thanks Quickbooks for including five advertisements on my Dashboard. I didn't know my business could accept credit cards. "

I’m here to share additional details about the in-product prompts you’ve seen on your end.
As mentioned by my colleagues here in this thread, the prompt is not an advertisement but these are working elements of the program. You’ve received the prompt since the system detects that you’ve not enabled the built-in Payment features of QuickBooks.
If you choose not to use QuickBooks Payments, you may ignore the prompt or click on the X or No, thanks button to close it. There’s no way to turn off the prompts completely. Rest assured, this will not affect your navigation experience.

I entirely agree. Looking at my dashboard right now, I'm reminded:
(1) "Get Advanced—More productivity. Better insights. Beyond limits." With a large button to "Unlock today."
(2) Three different pink "TRY IT" buttons to entice me to sign up for QB Advanced.
(3) A 3" x 5" box that runs through additional paid services, and is above my financial data.
As of 5 minutes ago I was advised to start looking for an alternative/keep an eye out for something from my boss.
That's how much we "enjoy" these nice new ads.

To the Quickbooks Team Members who are posting here - if you don't think the ads that keep popping up are ads, then I'm not sure what the definition of an ad is. I'm fine with you showing me a "prompt" ONCE regarding features I may not be taking advantage of. But clicking X or No Thanks does not make them go away permanently - only for that session. And as far as I can tell, there is no X or No Thanks on the FULL SCREEN Online Advanced ads that pop up every time I login. As others have said, I'm not paying for your service so you can market to me. I'm paying for your service so i can get work done - which is very difficult to do with all the ads everywhere. Do you all not realize that you are alienating your customers??

If the prompt doesn't have X or No Thanks button, most possible reason is that you're one of those selected QuickBooks Online (QBO) customers to try the QuickBooks Online Advanced free upgrade. You'll have the chance to experience the benefits of QBO Advanced.
To get rid of this, you can continue to sign up for QuickBooks Online Advanced free upgrade. This is completely free of charge and QuickBooks will automatically revert to the previous version after the free upgrade period. You can also downgrade the subscription anytime.

Ah yes, I was one of the "lucky" ones selected to try Online Advanced. I don't want to upgrade to Quickbooks Online advanced for free. I've already looked at what it has to offer and I'm not interested, yet I can't get rid of the pop up. Even after the original 30 days expired, the pop up is still there because you'e extended it another 30 days! I shouldn't have to upgrade to make the pop up go away. Do you not see how absurd your suggestion is that I should upgrade and then downgrade just to make the pop up go away?! You are making me do extra work for your supposed marketing benefit. What an incredible lack of customer service and shortsightedness from your marketing department. Especially for a service that you continue to raise the price on. Like others, I will begin looking for another option.
I am paying for this service and the ads are very distracting while I am trying to get my books in order. Half of my dashboard is not ads. This is not functionality, this is overreaching on the part of Intuit. If this does not stop soon, I will be leaving QBO forever. This is absolutely ridiculous. We are paying customers! STOP SPAMMING MY WORKFLOW!!!
I also want Quickbooks Online to stop bombarding me with ads every time I log into Quickbooks. I'm sick of it. I have things to get done. Now the stupid pop up ads are blocking the whole homescreen without even having a clear "X" to close it. AND I HAVE TO SELECT "MAYBE LATER" THERE IS NOT A "NO, NEVER" OPTION TO MAKE THE ANNOYING ADS GO AWAY. Shame on you Quickbooks. Show some respect for your customers. I am not a resource for you to constantly annoy. I'm an existing customer who does not want this new service and is seriously ready to bounce if I don't get some respectful consideration.
Hi everyone - I was super annoyed by this too and reached out to QBO. They told me the way to do this is to manually change your plan using this link: https://c71.qbo.intuit.com/app/changeplan. Downgrade to your previous plan and the ads go away.
I am sorry, but those with the QuickBooks Team, you continue to refer to these pop up prompts as working elements to assist users, or guides to point us in the right direction, vs. advertisements -these are advertisements, period. They are marketing attempts to get users to purchase additional products and are an annoyance, for, if any business has a need, they are smart enough to reach out to QB to fulfill those needs, I would say. Those of us with multiple companies find it especially annoying as the same notifications repeat with each company. It would be in the best interest of your paying customers if you would acknowledge the issue and provided an opt-out option, for those that don't mind the advertisements, they can stay opt'd in - for those that find it annoying, they could opt-out. I encourage all having an issue to leave feedback as suggested directions in another post herein, maybe then the issue will be addressed.
Look, they just advertised to you in their response to your complaint about all the advertising! Genius!
This sounds great, but I'm not sure how it would work - I'm using QB Online and the only plan available to downgrade to is the "Simple" plan. It doesn't mention anything about decreasing ads, just decreased functionality in other areas.
I'm suspicious that if I downgrade to a simpler, cheaper plan it will just incentivize QB to spam me with MORE ads to "unlock helpful features" because I'm clearly not using all of their products.
Has it worked for you? I'd give it a try if it has solved the problem for you.

The downgrading is in regards to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced and not tied to ads. For now, the only way to get rid of the advertisements is by manually closing them through the X sign or the No thanks option.
