Can I deposit without showing as income?

I use QB to keep up with my bank account I use for my photography business.  Business is slow, so I have taken a part-time job to help keep the office rent paid.  How do I go about depositing my check from the part-time job without it showing up as income on my photography business?

Re: Can I deposit without showing as income?

Greetings, @JayMalone.

I’m here to furnish you with resources on how you can record your part-time job salary as your company’s assets or equity in QuickBooks Desktop.

Depending on how you’d account your personal income, if the bank account where it’s posted is connected with QuickBooks, your part-time job income will automatically be downloaded into the system.

If it is not, here’s how to add it:

  1. Go to Lists.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Select the Account drop-down arrow.
  4. Click New.
  5. Select the account type.
  6. Choose Continue.
  7. Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Also, I’d recommend consulting with your accountant so you’ll be guided properly in recording your personal income.

Feel free to leave a post here in the Community if you have other questions about recording your income in QuickBooks Desktop. I’m always here to help.
