You'll want can click the Update button on the Banking page to manually download your transactions. If you get an error, please let us know with the name of the bank, so we can check here if there are reports about it. Also, you can log in to your bank account outside QuickBooks to see if there are notifications or changes that you need acknowledge first.
Alternatively, you can download your bank transactions in a Web Connect file, and upload them to QuickBooks. That way, you be catch up with your work.
