Good day, J_senterprises18.

You'll have to get in touch with your financial institution to reset the banking password. Or, you can log in to your bank's website and reset it from there.

Once done, go back to QuickBooks Online, then connect your bank account

Feel free to reach out to us if you need more help. Have a good one!

Hi, I reset my password with Chase but Quickbooks tells me that I have the wrong password and won't let me download transactions.

Hello RedT1!

Once you updated your login credentials on your bank, we also need to update them on QuickBooks Online. Let me help you.

The purpose why we need to update them too in QuickBooks Online is to maintain the connection between the two platforms. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Banking/Transactions menu and select Banking.
  2. Select the bank account you need to update and click the Edit or the ✎ icon.
  3. Click the Edit sign-in info and manually type in the new user ID and password.
  4. Tap Update.

Once done, click the Update next to the Link account button to download the transactions.

I've added some links you can check. These will show you the next things you need to do after downloading the transactions:

Hi Alex,

I have QB 2019 when I click on the pencil icon and check online settings, it says I am set up via Direct Connect.
There isn’t anywhere to update my password to match my new Chase password.

Thanks for helping,

Let me help you get around your concern, RedT1.

We'll have to disconnect the Bank Feeds in QuickBooks. Then, reconnect it again with the right password.

Before disconnecting your account, though, let's ensure we're able to categorize the pending downloaded transactions.

If you need more of our help, don't hesitate to let us know. We'll be right here to assist you. Take care!

Under Edit, I Made Account Inactive, then tried to redo the set up process and it did not work.  Told me that I was already set up online. I tried to make a new password with Chase and still the same, ugh!

Hello @RedT1,

Thank you for letting us know the results after following the suggestions shared by my colleague above. Since you're still unable to connect with Chase in QuickBooks Desktop, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support.

With their tools, one of our specialists can pull up your account on file and further investigate what is the reason why you're unable to establish a connection with your bank. To do so:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about when are you able to connect with our support: Contact QuickBooks Products and Services Support.

Lastly, I've also included this reference that'll help review your transactions once the connection is fixed: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other questions aside from QuickBooks bank feeds, please let me know in the comments. Stay safe!
