What’s New?

Intuit Introduces a Powerful Business Identity Theft and Fraud Protection Service – QuickBooks Detect & Defend, powered by EZShield

With data breaches on the rise (there were 1,579 in 2017 alone!1), it’s never been a better time to be proactive about defending your small business from fraud and identity theft. ID theft of a business? Many assume this crime just happens to individuals, but criminals love targeting small businesses too, knowing they don’t have the security infrastructure that helps keep larger companies safe. With the right info about your business, criminals can file phony tax returns, lease properties, apply for loans, and empty out bank accounts.

Luckily, QuickBooks' new Detect & Defend service2 offers powerful features to help protect your business from identity theft and fraud.

How it works

Sign up for QuickBooks Detect & Defend at qbdetectanddefend.com. Next, we’ll give you access to an online dashboard where you can enter information about your business you’d like monitored — email addresses, bank account numbers, credit/debit card numbers, phone numbers, addresses, and more.

We take it from there – scanning Dark Web sites, chat rooms and forums for that information. If we spot your information, we’ll alert you on your dashboard and by email right away. We also keep a close watch on your business credit reports3 for suspicious activity. If changes pop up in your addresses or phone numbers, or new lines of credit emerge, we’ll alert you about that too.

U.S.-based certified Resolution Specialists

Should you find yourself a victim of identity theft, one of our U.S.-based certified Resolution Specialists will personally handle the case from beginning to resolution. Our Resolution Specialists are thoroughly trained and certified as Identity Theft Risk Management Specialists by the Institute of Consumer Financial Education and by the Institute of Fraud Risk Management. The Resolution Specialist does all the heavy lifting for you to get things fixed, working with banks, merchants and other agencies to help recover lost documents or money and to help correct any fraudulent information or activity that occurred.

Business information security planning and self-assessment

Detect & Defend comes with a handy online security self-assessment tool to help you find ways of lowering your fraud risk. We’ll ask you some basic questions about your policies and practices. Based on your answers, we’ll give you guidance about how you might beef up your data security.

Data security with Online Identity Vault

Detect & Defend customers can get up to 10GB of encrypted storage for their critical business documents with the Online Identity VaultTM and Password Manager. You can upload proprietary documents, certificates, and images – all easily tagged for simple and accurate categorizing.

Lost or stolen wallet assistance

If your wallet is lost or stolen, we’ve got your back. Our Resolution Specialists will work with the appropriate agencies to replace identifying documents like your driver’s license, medical card, or Social Security card.

Powered by EZShield

To bring Detect & Defend services to its customers (currently offered to residents of every state but NY), QuickBooks has partnered with EZShield, a leader in the fraud and identity protection industry. More than 15 million consumers count on EZShield to detect serious identity threats and to help them resolve identity-related crimes that occurred.
