TN unmenployment tax

Is anyone else seeing TN state unemployment tax off? TN's website says I should be paying less than QB. I have verified the amount of income is correct in QB and matches what I entered. The rate should be 2.7%. The deduction in my paychecks is 4%.

Re: TN unmenployment tax

 Hi there, scruz.

Let's verify your unemployment tax rate that is set up in your QuickBooks program. If the company rate is incorrect, you'll have to change it to the correct rate.

Here's how:

  1. Go to List and select Payroll Item List.
  2. Click the TN-Unemployment company and click Next.
  3. Click Next again.
  4. Enter the correct TN Unemployment rate.
  5. Click Next.
  6. A prompt message will show, click Continue.
  7. Check the items that are subject to TN-Unemployment tax.
  8. Select Finish.

Once done, QuickBooks will automatically create a payroll adjustment for you.

I'd be right here if you have further questions. Have a good one!

Thank you for the reply. I figured out what had happened. We had added company paid health insurance, in essence increasing wages. I got a match after I updated things.

Thank you again!
