Sometimes, having invalid characters in your QuickBooks Online company name, or in the name of one of your list items (such as Customers, Suppliers, Products and Services, or the Chart of Accounts), can lead to server errors or other problems in the application. To avoid or remedy these errors, make sure your company name on QuickBooks Online only contains accepted characters from this list.
Here is a list of accepted characters:
Alpha-numeric (A-Z, a-z, 0-9)
Dot or period (.)
Question mark (?)
At symbol (@)
Exclamation point (!)
Number/pound sign (#)
Single quote (')
Space ( )
Minus sign/hyphen (-)
Plus sign (+)
If you have any special characters in your company name that aren’t listed above, edit the company name:
Select the Gear icon on the Toolbar, then Account and Settings (or Company Settings).
From the left menu, select Company.
Select the Edit (pencil) icon in the Company Name section to edit the entry.
Remove any invalid special characters.
Select Save and then Done.
You can check your lists by using the left menu to visit the Customers or Workers centres, then look for special characters in the names listed there.
You can access all other lists from the Gear icon in the Toolbar, then All Lists. Check each list for any entries that contain special characters in their names and edit them if necessary.
Once you have removed any invalid special characters from your company name and any lists, you should be able to use QuickBooks Online without any of these errors.
