If you need a quick guide to exporting QuickBooks Online data, see Visual Guide to Export.
Advanced installation troubleshooting:
You need to have an Administrator access to Windows. When prompted, just enter the Administrator password, then select OK.
When installing the ActiveX control, you will see a Microsoft Security Warning. This is a standard warning Microsoft gives when you are redirected to a secure page. If you select No, the ActiveX installation will fail.
After installing Internet Explorer, the Microsoft Information Security Bar is turned On by default. You'll be prompted to select the Information Bar to install ActiveX control for any website, including QuickBooks Online.
This can happen if the Information Bar is switched off. To enable this feature to successfully install ActiveX control:
Administrative privileges allow you to install and remove programs, change computer configurations, and access all programs and files on the computer. However, if you are a user in a corporate environment, administrative privileges may be restricted and you may not be allowed to install ActiveX controls.
To find out if you have administrative privileges on your computer, check for Windows Administrator rights.
If you don't have administrator access rights:
If you have done all of the above yet still can't load ActiveX control, check the settings on your Internet Explorer. It may have been set up not to restrict downloads on the computer.
Note: If you are unable to install ActiveX control, consult an IT expert or your computer manufacturer.
If you have tried all the basic troubleshooting steps above but you still can't install ActiveX control, download ActiveX Installation Tool.
Note: To save the tool, you may need to right-click the download link, then choose Save Link As...
Important: Using the ActiveX Installation Tool should be your last resort. If you use this tool, you will need to use it each time we update our ActiveX control.
If you used the tool before, you'll get a message saying you have a newer version of ActiveX. This message is misleading. You need to uninstall older version before you can use the ActiveX Installer Tool. The tool is listed as QuickBooks Online Edition Utilities vXX.
