Convert a QuickBooks Mac Desktop file to QuickBooks Online

With QuickBooks Mac Desktop, you can transfer data directly into QuickBooks Online.

Convert from Mac to Online

  1. While on QuickBooks, select QuickBooks on the taskbar on top. Choose Check for QuickBooks Updates and update to the latest version.
  2. When the update finishes, restart QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Go to File and select Export > To QuickBooks Online.
  4. After we successfully copy and import your data, we'll send you an email.
  5. From the email, sign in to see your data.

Note: If you have no way to complete the steps above to export your data from your Mac, please contact us for assistance at 800.488.7330.

Important: To install the trial version, you must be running on Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or higher.

  1. Download the trial version of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2016.
  2. Upgrade your data file. (Perform the required backup in case you decide you want to remain in your previous QuickBooks Mac Desktop version.)
  3. After the file upgrade completes, go to File and select Export > To QuickBooks Online.
  4. After we successfully copy and import your data, we'll send you an email.
  5. From the email, sign in to see your data.
