SOLVEDby QuickBooks7Updated 1 year ago

The following error codes appear when trying to update QuickBooks Desktop or download the latest tax table update. These are caused by any of the following:

  • The Shared Download drive wasn't mapped correctly
  • A missing file or component for payroll updates
  • Damaged windows files
  • A firewall setting that may block payroll updates in QuickBooks Desktop
  • QuickBooks File Copy Service (FCS) is disabled
  • Unable to verify digital signatures

Before troubleshooting, you may want to try to configure firewall and internet security settings first.

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the QuickBooks Desktop icon, then select Run as Administrator.
  3. Select Yes on the message that says, "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?"
  4. Download the latest QuickBooks Desktop product updates or the latest payroll tax table update again.

Step 1: Download and install the QuickBooks Tools Hub

The QuickBooks Tool Hub helps fix common errors. You'll need to close QuickBooks to use the tool hub. For the best experience, we recommend you use Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Note: If you can't find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program.

Step 2:  From the Tools Hub, run the Quick Fix my Program

The Quick Fix will shut down any lingering background processes QuickBooks may be using. It’ll run a quick repair on your program.

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Once it’s done, reopen QuickBooks and your company file.
  4. Download the latest QuickBooks Desktop product updates or the latest payroll tax table update again.

If you still get an error, try these steps:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks XX\Components.
Note: XX is your QuickBooks Desktop version. For example, QuickBooks Desktop 2021 is DownloadQB21
  3. Right-click Components, then Delete.
  4. Open QuickBooks Desktop. Go to the Help, then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Select Update Now
  6. Select the Reset Update checkbox.
  7. Select Get Updates. When the download is complete, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop.
  8. Go to the Help, then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  9. Select Overview, then Update Now.
  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks.
  2. Right-click on QBW32.exe, then select Properties.
  3. Select Digital Signature and verify Intuit is selected in the signature list.
  4. Select Details.
  5. In the Digital Signature Details window, select View Certificate.
  6. In the Certificate window, select Install Certificate.
  7. Select Next until Finish is displayed. Then, select Finish.
  8. Restart your computer.
  9. Open QuickBooks, then redownload the update.

Re-install your QuickBooks Desktop so Windows can fix your company file issues.
