Fix expired credit card error

Learn how to fix an expired credit card error in QuickBooks Online.

If you have an expired credit card error, we’ll help you find the cause and get it fixed.

Find out what’s causing the error

The date or time on you computer is incorrect

  1. Make sure that the date and time on your computer is right.
    • You can reach out to your computer manufacturer, or their support site for help.
  2. Sign out from QuickBooks Online, then sign in again.
  3. Process the credit card payment again if needed.

The expiration date saved in the Customer Center doesn’t match what’s on the credit card

Edit a customer's credit card information in QuickBooks Online. Then Process the credit card payment again if needed.

The credit card is expired or is no longer active

Check with your customer to make sure their credit card info is right, or get new card details. Then Process the credit card payment again if needed.
