Resolve error in reload.sql at line #####. Sybase message: the disk sandbox feature is enabled

Perform the recommended solution if you try to restore a Portable or Accountant's copy file and you get the following error:

Error in reload.sql at line 40454. Sybase message: The file [FILENAME] is invalid when the disk sandbox feature is enabled for database '[database]'

User-added image

This error is caused by one or more of these reasons:

  • Portable or Accountant's copy is being restored from a remote location and the file is larger than 3MB
  • Portable or Accountant's copy is being restored over the network
  • Portable or Accountant's copy is being restored from a damaged folder
  • Damaged QuickBooks installation

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for QuickBooks Desktop. See Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If you're still getting the same error after the update, the folder where the Portable or Accountant's copy file is saved may be damaged. Transfer the company file to another folder then try restoring the file from the new location.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you are restoring the file locally and not over the network.

  1. Open the folder where the Portable or Accountant's copy is saved.
  2. Right-click the file and select Copy.
  3. Open your C: drive, create a new folder and name it QBTest.
  4. Paste the Portable or Accountant's copy file into the new folder.
  5. Restore the file from the QBTest folder.
    1. While holding down the Ctrl key, open QuickBooks so you are directed to the No Company Open window.
    2. Select Open or restore an existing company.
    3. Navigate to the QBTest folder. Find the company file you copied and open.
