If you're still getting the same error after the update, the folder where the Portable or Accountant's copy file is saved may be damaged. Transfer the company file to another folder then try restoring the file from the new location.
IMPORTANT:Make sure you are restoring the file locally and not over the network.
Open the folder where the Portable or Accountant's copy is saved.
Right-click the file and select Copy.
Open your C: drive, create a new folder and name it QBTest.
Paste the Portable or Accountant's copy file into the new folder.
Restore the file from the QBTest folder.
While holding down the Ctrl key, open QuickBooks so you are directed to the No Company Open window.
Select Open or restore an existing company.
Navigate to the QBTest folder. Find the company file you copied and open.
