The QBRefresher tool speeds up troubleshooting in QuickBooks Desktop. It helps reduce the number of steps and solves a variety of issues.

Install and run the QBRefresher tool

Download QBRefresher

  1. Select the button above to download the latest version of QBRefresher. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop.
    Note: If you already have QBRefresher on your computer, delete the old file and download the latest version linked above.
  2. If you’re working in QuickBooks, finish any open tasks. Then close QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Double-click the QBRefresher.exe file to run the program.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  5. QBRefresher should run for about 30 seconds. When it’s finished, open QuickBooks Desktop.

What does QBRefresher do?

The QBRefresher tool automatically closes QuickBooks processes running in the background. These can sometimes cause problems when opening or working in QuickBooks Desktop.

The tool also does a mini refresh and repair of the program. You don’t have to do anything with your settings - QBRefresher updates everything for you.

When should I use QBRefresher?

Generally, you can use QBRefresher anytime:

  • QuickBooks Desktop stops responding or working.
  • The QuickBooks loading screen flashes and goes away, but QuickBooks doesn’t open.
  • QuickBooks feels slow or sluggish (performance issues).
  • You see 6xxx series errors (such as Error 6123,0).
  • You need to repair or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.

Will QBRefresher affect my data?

No. The tool won’t touch your company files or related data. If you’re working in QuickBooks, finish any open tasks and close QuickBooks before running QBRefresher.
