QB keeps asking to update even though it's up to date

QB ver. 2016 Pro Desktop with current updates as of today, 10-10-18

Win 7 Pro 64, updated yesterday

So, it looks as if the QB 2016 Pro issue with crashing when opening a company has been taken care of, but now, every time I open a company file (I have only 5 different company databases), QB keeps telling me that the file was opened in a newer version of QB and asks if I want to update QB or not.  The company file =does= open and, when I run the update routine, it shows that it's already checked for updates (I have autoupdate turned on) and the only issue that shows is the nagging Error 404 for Service Messages.  This just started this week, which is about 2-3 weeks after the =previous= issue was fixed.  Not a huge deal, but it's annoying and does waste time, even if it's only a few seconds.  Those seconds =do= add up over time.  Anyone else having this issue?

OK, tried the update reset but still getting the Error #404.  Next?

My original issue seems to be fixed, though.

Re: QB keeps asking to update even though it's up to date

Hello there KnoxFarm,

I appreciate your prompt response about the error 404 message in QuickBooks Desktop.

I want to know if you're currently subscribed to QuickBooks Merchant Account Service or QuickBooks Online Billing. The error usually happens when the QuickBooks system is unable to detect any important messages related to QuickBooks business services.

If you're not paying for any of these services, you can just disregard the error 404 message showing in the Update window.

Let me know if you have any questions about the error message. I'll be around to help.

No, no subscriptions to any services.  Just a standalone system.  Glad to know that the Error isn't a big issue, but then it's only on Service Messages, so I didn't really think it was.  Just an annoyance.
