My subscription payment failed

If you've received notification that your payment has failed, a problem has occurred with the card attached to your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Note Until this issue is resolved, you will be able to view your data for a limited time, but cannot edit it.

Reasons for subscription payment failing

Your payment didn't go through likely due to one of the following reasons:

  • The card is over the limit.
  • The card has expired.
  • The account number is invalid.
  • The card has been listed as lost or stolen.
  • The card-issuing bank will not authorise the card electronically.
  • The card was declined, with no other information provided by the processor.

Resolve the issue and reactivate account

To resolve this issue and reactive your account:

  1. Select the Gear icon on the Toolbar.

  2. Select Account & Settings.

  3. Select Billing & Subscriptions.
  4. Next to Payment method, select Edit.
  5. Enter your updated billing and payment information to reactivate this company's subscription.
  6. Select Save.

Note: It may take up to 24 hours to reactivate your account.
