I have been slacking on my bank and credit card reconciliation for several months. What is the best way to go back and do this?
You can go back to the next month after your last reconciliation or you can skip ahead and do just one current end of last month reconciliation for each account. The end result is the same but the amount of data may overwhelm you if you have many missing or wrong transactions on the books. Your choice. Never skip end of fiscal year reconciliation, however.
Would you recommend adding all transactions for all months first, and then reconcile one month at a time? Or would you recommend adding transactions for one month at a time, reconciling that month, and then move on to the following month?
