Different numbering sequence for invoices and credit memos

I saw an earlier discussion on this but there was no solution.

Currently, the credit memo numbers are part of the invoice sequencing numbers. I cannot differentiate a credit memo from an invoice by just looking at the numbers. It will be helpful if credit memos are identified differently. How do I assign a different set of numbers for credit memos?

Allow me to help share some clarifications about assigning a different set of numbers for credit memos in QuickBooks Desktop.

At this time, being able to assign different set numbers for credit memos isn't an option for us. This is because credit memos use the same number sequence as invoices. 

However, you can check out for some third-party application that supports note numbering for credit memos and invoices in QuickBooks Desktop.

Lastly, I'd suggest visiting the New Feature section of your QuickBooks to be updated with our latest news and updates including product improvements. 

To do that:

1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
2. Select on New Features.
3. Choose What's New.

This should get you moving today.
