I have an inventory item that costs me $18. It is a 21 lbs box of tomatoes; I apply a 35% and I sell the whole case for $24.3, however, I can also sell it by the pound, therefore quick books calculates the pound cost as $0.85714 and the sales price as $1.15714.
Only the amount is rounded but not the price of the item. For example:
Qty Item Price Amount
5 lbs Tomato $1.15714 $5.79
I want the price to round up as $1.16 because otherwise the invoice looks unprofessional with that many digits and the lowest currency in the USA is 0.01 dollars
Quickbooks should round price to the nearest 0.01 and then calculate the amount, but it seems that it calculates the amount and then it rounds it up to the nearest 0.01.
Thanks for specifying your concern properly.
The option to round up prices on an invoice is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. As a workaround, you’ll need to update it manually on the invoice.
I’d also make sure to share this helpful feature with our developers for further updates.
Stay in touch with us if you have other questions about QuickBooks.
Do you know how long does it take developers to implement this feature?
Also, if this gets an update fix will I need to purchase a new quickbooks version?
Hi there, @Einstein.
Please allow me to join the thread and help share additional information about rounding up prices on invoices.
In this case, you don't need to purchase a new version of QuickBooks, the workaround provided by my colleague MikiD is to update the amounts/prices on your invoices to the correct/desired prices. If you wish to update the invoices previously created, you have to open them and update the amount individually.
On the other hand, as of now, we don't have an exact time frame on how long does our developer take to implement this feature. However, you may visit our QuickBooks Blog to stay updated with the latest QuickBooks news and updates. For the link, you may check it here: The QuickBooks Blog.
In addition, you can also check/read our QuickBooks Desktop help articles for your reference in the future: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.
Please don't hesitate to add a post/comment below if you have any other invoices or QuickBooks concerns, I'll be always here to help you. Have a good day ahead!
