Stripe Credit Card Decline Reasons

There are a few reasons why a Stripe credit card may be declined:

  • Invalid account number
  • Expired credit card
  • General decline, no other information provided by processor
  • Issuing bank will not electronically authorize the credit card
  • Billing Address in QuickBooks Online does not match the address on your statement

If you are processing a credit card transaction and you receive a decline code:

  1. Verify that all information on the card is correct including: Card Number, Cardholder Name, Security Code, and Billing Address.
  2. If all of the information is correct please instruct the customer to contact their bank to make sure there is no issue with accepting the payment.
  3. If you have done all of the above you can contact Support.
