Join nowI have my self and 1 user for quickbooks desktop. I"m the admin. so I now have to use different passwords within my quickbooks to access each company. so does my employee, he has
to use his own different passwords for the 5 companies. We both use File, Open previous company, to access a company..... There has to be a better way to do it.
I believe from security perspective and audit log, every company file must have a password for every user login. You should consider switching to Accountant edition to run 2 company files in the same time.
For me also, it would be more convenient if I didn't have to make diff passwords for every single company. But at least the person who posted on May 2, 2019, has told me that it isn't my imagination -- it's just the way QB works. I am going to be setting up a sandbox "company" so I can test things w/o danger of messing up my real company's file. -- Question: Does QB require routine changes of passwords? Good for security, but it's a hassle.
"Password utilities" exist, but I really distrust them. A major product from another company wanted me to log in using my photograph -- I let it do so -- whereupon my photo contained my password, and the photo was used by a hacker who knew how to extract my password from the photo, causing me much nuisance.
