Hi there, devin-doyle.
You can disregard the ads by clicking the X or No, thanks button. I'll personally give your feedback to our product engineers that you'll want to turn off ads.
The Community is always around to help you with your concerns.
Frankly it’s insulting - I pay over $1200/year for quickbooks, and some a-hole in marketing thinks it’s fine to interrupt my work with advertising? I’m already fed up with the constant up-selling. If there was any alternative, I would pack up my files and leave. Eventually there will be, and I will do that.
Good day, devin-doyle.
Allow me to share additional information about the ads appearing in QuickBooks Online.
The ads in QuickBooks are designed to guide and suggest you how to optimize your QuickBooks Online experience. Since they're affecting your navigation experience, I recommend clicking on the X or No, thanks button. This will prevent the pop-ups from showing up again.
I can pass along the suggestions you have so you're able to reach a point of resolution as quickly as possible. We share recent happenings and future developments on our blog. Through this, you're able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.
You can check out this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/.
If you need more help with QuickBooks, please let me know. Have a good one.
The ads in QuickBooks are designed to extract more money from your paying customers and optimize distraction from whatever I was in the middle of. Don't kid yourself.
I have been complaining about this for a while now, we use the desktop version and we get ads constantly. Please add my name (and the 5 users) to the “notes” you send out. I’ve already paid you for this product and do not wish to be “SOLD” anything else while trying to do our work. I hope
Hello there, Union Hydraulics.
May I know if you're referring to the pop-up messages for products and services? If so, kindly follow these steps in turning off the said pop-up:
Also, I'll personally send your feedback to our engineers. I'd just keep this thread updated.
Just let me know if you need anything else.
I have unchecked the item, Thank you for this. I would like to note that I found the option under "My Preferences" not "General Preferences"
Quickbooks Online User.
Since someone else already made a thread on this I thought I'd add to it instead of making my own.
My entire office has been commenting on this since it started, each day we seem to find more ads for a product we already pay a subscription to. These are NOT workflow ideas, these are ads.
Like the original user mentioned, if there was a comparable product we would be looking at that right now. That's how annoying we find these to be (and it looks like we aren't the only ones).
Horrible marketing decision.
I appreciate you for sharing your thoughts here in the Community. I'm here to assist you with your concern about the ads within QuickBooks Online.
For now, the only way to get rid of the advertisements is by manually closing them through the X sign or the No thanks option. Since this is affecting the navigation when using the program, I'm personally taking note of your request regarding the popups.
In the meantime, I recommend visiting the QuickBooks Blog website to stay up to date on any updates or improvements on the online version. You can bookmark the link I'm adding down below:
In addition to the information above, you can also reach out to our Support Specialists. Unlike in this public forum, they have the tools required to perform any escalations in the system whenever necessary on your behalf.
Here's how you can reach them:
I look forward to serving you to the best of my ability, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me. The Community is always available to help with any concern you may have with using QuickBooks.
Hello, Union Hydraulics.
Thanks for responding back to this thread.
Based on your reply to Joyce_P’s answer above, you’ve unchecked the item in your Preferences. This could be the reason why you’re still having the message this morning. You’ll need to check the box instead to avoid messages for products and services:
Stay in touch if there’s something else that we can help you with.
Where is this option in Quickbooks Online? Absolutely infuriating.
Thanks for joining this conversation, @nin25080302.
The steps that my colleague @MikiD provided is for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Since you're using the online version, the only way to remove the advertisements is by manually closing them through the X sign or the No thanks option.
Rest assured that I'm making it my top priority that your feedback reaches our Product Development Team. While we don't have a timeline for when this will be available, you can check out our blog site. This is the place where we share information if there's a feature update.
Please feel free to post again or leave a comment should you need anything else. I'll be happy to help. Take care always.
I wanted to add my dissatisfaction and frustration. Seems like something has changed and it's not just an ad once in a while.
Today, while invoicing in QBO, I received a pop-up ad after EVERY SINGLE INVOICE I SENT.
Then, after clicking on the "x", instead of closing, it created a new blank invoice for that client. This occurred even after clicking "Send and Close" each time.
This results in not 1 extra click, but 3 EXTRA CLICKS for EVERY SINGLE INVOICE I SEND.
- 1 click to close the ad
- 1 click to close the blank invoice
- 1 click to close the pop-up to confirm closing the invoice
This needs to be addressed immediately
We want you to know that your comments are important to us so we can improve. I want to make sure that you get back to your business.
I know how frustrating this is for you and for other users. But in the meantime, you may continue following the steps given by my colleagues above oh how to temporarily remove these ads.
I want you to know that I understand how these ads are affecting your business. Don't worry, I'll let our engineers know of your suggestion to remove these ads.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other concerns.
Your colleagues have provided no steps to remedy this. See above. With QBO, we just have to bend over and accept the ads rectally. There is no way to turn them off.
Hello again, devin-doyle.
Thanks for visiting us here in the Community.
I just wanted to let you know that I responded to your other thread. Please refer to this link on how to turn off the ads in QuickBooks Online: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Other-questions/Pop-up-ad/m-p/312320#M20701.
You're always welcome in the Community. Please come back should you have any questions about QuickBooks Online. Best regards.
Another annoyed user here. During my invoicing periods, I send many invoices in a row. Recent updates have made it so I get an annoying pop-up telling me to finish setting up credit card/ACH payments EVERY TIME I send an invoice. Which means I see that dang pop up constantly for a few hours. I don't want to set up credit card/ACH payments and I definitely don't want to see that pop-up all the time. It is obstructing my workflow in a very real way.
Hello there, @nstew.
I appreciate you for sharing your feedback about your experience while creating an invoice. I can provide you with additional information about turning off prompts and other unnecessary notifications in your QuickBooks account.
In the meantime, the ability to turn off the pop-up is not yet available. What you can do is to close it through the (X) icon or “No, thanks!” button. If you‘re referring to marketing advertisements pop-out and other forms of ads on Chrome, you can check out this article for a more detailed instruction: Block certain ads.
On the other hand, since this is impacting the navigation when using the program, I’d be glad to share these suggestions to our Product Engineers for consideration in future updates.
Lastly, here’s how to send a request to opt-out permanently of any marketing notifications:

Should you have other questions about navigating around QuickBooks, feel free to leave a post below. I’m here to help.
I'm sorry - this is unacceptable to simply tell us we can click the X or Close. This is happening EVERY SINGLE TIME I PREP AN INVOICE - and in one case blocked the invoice from being sent.
TURN THIS OFF NOW. THis is not code - this is marketing and a VERY bad option.
DISABLE THIS so we can use the tool we pay for, please.
I know this can frustrating for you.
Please know that the in-product pop-ups are about navigation, not as marketing materials. While we don't have the option to turn off any pop-ups, I recommend following the workaround provided by my colleagues above. This way, the pop-ups will keep from showing up again.
I'll do my best to help you here in the Community. Likewise, I'll be more than willing to pass along your feedback to our engineers.
Rest assured I'll be keeping an eye to this post so I can get myself posted of your replies.
We use the desktop app for QBO. This is not a navigation pop-up - this is marketing. Asking me to enable the ability for clients to pay online every single time I generate an invoice is Draconian. Advertise to me on login - not every time I generate a transaction.
We use a third party billing platform designed for our industry by design so this is not something we need - and especially not to slow down our work process and potentially impede the ability to send out invoices.
I'll make the adjustments you mention but non seem related to in-app pop-ups or the QBO desktop app.
It's pretty clear this is a heavy-handed mistake and would be a clear need to address- should not be difficult for your engineering team to disable. Lets keep marketing to a pop-up when we login or on our Dashboard - not integrated into our work process.
I can route you to the right support, FunctionOne.
The pop-up message for QuickBooks Payments will eventually stop. QuickBooks Online (QBO) will remember your choice when you keep on clicking (X) icon or “No, thanks!” button.
Cases like this, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll further investigate what's causing this issue.
Here's how to reach them:
Visit the Community again if you need anything else in QBO.
Hi - why are you calling these pop up ads (asking us to buy a new product) 'navigational aids' and not marketing? Can you imagine anything more annoying?
