Re: Projects not transferring my previous data that has that customer number

Hi there, rs9.

Customers and projects are not connected to each other. But, you can assign the transactions created from the customer list to the project by following these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Sales.
  2. Choose Customers and click the customer's name.
  3. Click the  invoice or sales receipt to open.
  4. From the Customer drop-down list, select the project name.
  5. Click Save and Close.

Once done, you will see that the transaction is connected to a project if it shows under the Project column. I've added a sample screenshot for your reference.

Re: Projects not transferring my previous data that has that customer number

Hello there, rs9.

I'm glad you reach out to us about your concern with the Project feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you're converting an existing sub-customer into Project, sub-customer information such as addresses, contacts, phone numbers and other information will not transfer over to the Project.

To fix this, you can edit the project from the Customer List screen. Below are the steps on how to do it:

  1. Click Sales from the left menu.
  2. Click Customer.
  3. Select the sub-customer, then Edit.
  4. Change the name of the sub-customer to the existing project name.
  5. You will see a message That name is already being used. Would you like to merge the two? Choose Yes.

The Existing Custimer name is not a sub customer. Example the existing Customer is Lot 99. The Customer in projects is Lot 99. How can I get the existing costs to show in Projects.
