change font size

Is there a way to enlarge the font size in QB Enterprise Solutions 16.0?  I have a hard time seeing some of the print.

Re: change font size

Thank you for coming to the QuickBooks Cominuty for help with this. I'm happy to help you get a new view of QuickBooks. Since QuickBooks runs off of your computer's DPI (Dots Per Inch) settings. I have some steps here that will show you how to make these changes to your font size in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  • Go to Edit in the upper left-hand corner.
  • Click Preferences.
  • Select Desktop View from the left menu.
  • Choose My Preferences.
  • Click on Display.

This will bring up the settings for changing font size and display settings for your computer. Should you need anything else, you can leave a comment for me down below.

Re: change font size

Hi!  I only want to change the quickbooks program, not my whole computer. Smiley Sad

Re: change font size

Changing the systems settings affects everything on the PC.   My monitor is a 4K monitor.  All the other programs are fine.  It is only quickbooks and specially the shipping and credit card pop up windows that are so small I have to use a magnifing glass to read them.  If I change the system settings it creates two problems.

1. All my other programs now have fonts that are a 1/2 tall.

2. The Shipping and Credit Card window fields overlap each other.

I really thing the solution is to be able to change those pop up windows inside Quickbooks.

I have the same issue and need help ASAP with this.  Is there a solution that does not effect my enire computer and just the font size on the QB windows?

Re: change font size

Hi there, @stroth and @Dalal.

Thanks for trying out the steps provided by @ClayJ. I’m here to share some insights on how to increase the font size of your QuickBooks Desktop.

The steps given by my colleague is another option you can take in changing your QuickBooks font size. There are other 2 solutions you can try:

Solution 1: Change the Desktop View Preference.
1.    Click the Edit menu and select Preferences.
2.    Choose Desktop View and proceed to My Preferences tab.
3.    Under the View section, choose One Window.
4.    Click OK.

Solution 2: Change QuickBooks Properties.
1.    Close QuickBooks.
2.    Right-click the QuickBooks icon.
3.    Select Properties, and then go to the Compatibility tab.
4.    Check the box next to Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
5.    Select Apply, and then click OK.

If you’re still having trouble with your QuickBooks resolution, try modifying your Windows DPI settings. You may want to check out this article for the steps: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1774495.

Please know that modifying the default settings will affect other programs on your computer. If you wish to only change your QuickBooks font size, I’d recommend sending feedback to our Development Team for consideration in future software updates.

You can do so by following the steps below:
1.    Click the Help menu at the top.
2.    Select Send Feedback Online.
3.    Choose Product Suggestion

Let me know if you have questions, I’ll be around to help. Wishing you the best!

Re: change font size

I am using QuickBooks 2016 for Mac. Version V17.2.31 R32, Build 722. and the is no "Preferences" in the Edit drop down menu. It is very difficult for me to read the tiny font, and I can find no way to increase font size without changing my entire screen size on my Mac. There must be a way to do so.

Re: change font size

Neither Solution 1 or solution 2 is an option with QuickBooks 2016 for Mac. I really need help in changing font size as it is getting extremely difficult to read on my Mac. Quickbooks is the only program I use where I am having this difficulty. Please help ASAP. Also, there are many fields that could be made larger, since there is plenty of screen real estate available, such as selecting a bank account when writing a check.(There many other places in QB where the field display could be made larger.) Also, when selecting a date, the month box and the arrows are very difficult to hit the sweet spot with the mouse arrow. In reports, reducing column size takes more effort than it should to find the sweet spot to change column size. These little things are very annoying an add to my frustration using an  otherwise pretty incredible program.

Hi bobleilich,

I can imagine the challenge that you're facing right now.

The setup for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is quite different from the Windows version. I'd encourage you to contact our phone agents to get help with this.

  1. Open this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Choose Using QuickBooks for Mac.
  4. Scroll down and click on Get Phone Number button.

You can always get in touch with us here if you have other questions in mind.

Re: change font size

I had an issue with viewing reports on the screen of a Windows QB that was restored from a MAC backup as the print was tiny.  Just to change the font size of the reports so you can actually see it on the screen - do the following.

Edit

Preferences

Reports & Graphs

Company Preferences (Tab)

Format (button)

Fonts & Numbers (Tab)

Change Font (button)

Change the font Size to your preference

   OK (button)

Yes (button) <Change all related fonts? (pop-up)>

OK (button)

OK (button)

This will make all reports run after this change in a larger font so you can see it!

Re: change font size

This does not really solve the problem of increasing font size within QuickBooks ONLY. This answer provided by QuickBooks team is to change "Windows System font size" for the ENTIRE computer. Please provide answer on how I can increase font size for various QuickBooks items displayed on the QuickBooks screens and menus.

Re: change font size

Hi there, Fedup12.

QuickBooks Desktop uses and depends on the Windows font settings. For now, there's no option to change the settings that will only apply to QuickBooks as shared in the earlier replies.

I'll forward your feedback to our product engineers for further review. Visit us again in the Community if you have other questions.
