Question

I'm finding classic view reports do not match modern view in at least product/service detail reports and unbilled charges reports. Is anyone else finding this?

I have now spent over an hour with QBO on the phone multiple times and each time I show how the reports don't match up and each time they tell me they need to keep me on the phone to figure this out and each time I have to give up because I don't have hours in the day to be on the phone while they try to figure this out. Has anyone else seen that the two style reports don't match up as well?

Some reports are differently treated when generated in different views, BookemDanO. Allow me to discuss this matter for clarification.

Before we begin, can you please add more details regarding your concern? What specific product/service detail report are you referring to? This information can help us identify the most relevant information to address your queries.

If you run the Purchase by Product/Service Detail and Sales Product/Service Detail, the data will match when you switch between the Classic and Modern View. In this case, you'll want to ensure your reports are customized similarly. It should have the same Report period, Accounting method, and Filters.

For more information, please review these materials:

On the other hand, items are presented differently in the Unbilled Charges report when run in the Classic and Modern view. In the Modern view, items posted in an income account are shown as positive amounts. Otherwise, they'll reflect as negative numbers. In the Classic view, all items are posted as positive regardless of the accounts. This is why the amounts in your reports don't match.

Moreover, you might want to memorize your report to save its current customization setting for future use. You can also send it on a recurring schedule via email if necessary.

Hi, thanks for responding.

The "Sales by Product/Service Detail" is the report I'm referring to. If I do the exact same filters on a specific project the totals are different when using classic view vs  modern view. Some expenses come out as negative but these still do not account for all the differences. The modern view filter set up is super confusing: "equals, not equals, empty"??  Maybe for accountants this is an improvement but not for me as typical small business owner trying to get a simple report.

Thank you for your response, Dan. I'd like to provide some clarification regarding the modern view filter setup and the issue with the classic and modern view reports not matching.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the Equals filter in a report displays transactions that exactly match the specified criteria, while the Not Equals filter excludes transactions that match the specified criteria, showing all others. Additionally, the Is Empty filter shows transactions or data entries with no value or that are blank in the specified field, whereas the Is Not Empty filter shows transactions or data entries with a value or that are not blank in the specified field.

I am finding the same thing. When I run my budget performance in classic view, it is correct, but when I use the modern view, the left hand column does not stay fixed, and it changes the column data. I now have an "Other" column in the modern view that I should not have.

Please note that reports appear differently depending on the view you choose, Lyn.

To remove unnecessary columns, filter to the data you want to display from the Columns tab.

Additional details or screenshots of the specific report you're referring to will also help us better understand your concern, visualize the issue, and provide the most appropriate resolution.

There shouldn't be a difference in values for classic view and modern view.  Those are changes in "views."  Those are not changes in data.

the software is broken.  A bunch of Intuit employees just came on here and all lied to us, again.

even better, ONCE AGAIN, Intuit put none of our money into fixing their broken software and addressing our legitimate concerns of differing answers FOR ARITHMETIC, and will be forcing us to learn a new broken platform this fall, because our time has no value, apparently.  "Screw your kids, they can raise themselves, learn our new broken software or go under fighting it!"  Is the only way to interpret this that makes sense.  It's so filthy.  How do any of you sleep at night?
