Question

As far as my income, I have 4 ways my income comes in. I’d like to separate all 4. I have ebay, unemployment, gig work and insurance commission. How do I do that?

Welcome to the Community, @michaeltretola2-.

You can utilize the split feature to allow you to split transactions into more than one category. Let me guide you through the steps.

The split feature is only available for downloaded transactions. Please follow the steps below to proceed:

  1. Click Transactions from the left panel.
  2. Find the downloaded transactions from the list.
  3. Select the Split button.
  4. In the Split by drop-down, choose Amount.
  5. Select and enter the TypeCategory, and the Amount of the transactions.
  6. Click Save.

Here's an article you can read for more details: Split and Exclude Transactions.

However, if these transactions aren't downloaded from your bank, you'll have to manually create and categorize each transaction. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu, then click Add transactions.
  2. Enter a description and the amount of the transaction.
  3. Select the category and click Save.

I'm adding this article for more guidance: Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please post a reply below if you have other concerns with your transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'll be more than happy to assist you again. Have a great day and take care always.
