Question

I am trying to organize my transactions for my quarterly taxes. My business began in July. Do I need to sort through transactions before that date?

We can categorize your transactions, s-villarruel5-gm.

This helps us organize your income and expenses transactions for your quarterly taxes.

If you're using a web browser, you may follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Search a transaction on the list.
  3. Select Business if the transaction was for business, and Personal if for personal. If both, select Split.
  4. Review the category in the Category column.
  5. If you need to change the category, select the category link
  6. Once you're done, select Save.

Though, if you're on an iOS or Android device, here are the steps:

  1. If you're on an iOS device, go to the Transactions menu. If you're on an Android device, select the menu ☰ icon and then Transactions.
  2. Find a transaction on the list.
  3. Swipe left to categorize it as Business or right for Personal. If the transaction is a mix of both, select the transaction and then select Split.
  4. Review the category QuickBooks selected. If you need to change the category, select the category link. Then choose a new category.

I also recommend reaching out to an accountant or tax advisor to verify if the transactions prior to July should be included.

Additionally, I've included our annual tax guide in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This helps you prepare your taxes and file on time.
