Question

I want a specific bank account from my COA to display on my dashboard. How do I add it to the Bank Accounts Window?

It is not connected to the bank feeds, but neither is the last 3 bank accounts listed in that box, so that would not be the answer. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for posting to the Community, @SDM2.

It's possible to display a bank account in your COA, even if it's not connected to your bank feeds. Let's make sure that you have used this bank for making sales transactions and expenses (like making invoices, bank deposits, transfers, expenses, etc.). This way, it will appear in the Dashboard's Bank Accounts frame.

Also, you can reorder the bank accounts listed on that frame by clicking the Pencil icon. It ensures that the account you see first is in regard to the priority.

Once the bank account is displayed in the Dashboard, you can follow these steps on how to rearrange it:

  1. Go to Dashboard.
  2. Under the Bank Accounts window, click the Pencil icon.
  3. Drag the bank account that you want to display in order.
  4. Click Save.

Well done! You've displayed the bank account from your COA and reordered the view.

You can refer to this article when you decide to connect and sync your bank transactions in QuickBooks: Connect bank and credit card accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Jovychris_A,  Thanks for your quick reply.  I guess I didn't do a good job in explaining my need.  The account from my COA that I would really need to see in the bank account box on the dashboard is the "Undeposited Funds" account.  I use that account regularly because we only make one weekly deposit to the bank.  So everyday that I receive a check, I enter it into this account until I make the bank deposit.  It would be really helpful to see that account on the dashboard along with my other accounts.  Many times I am asked what our receipts were for the week so far, and I currently have to go into a report, or into the COA to see that total.  There are a couple of worthless accounts that happen to be in the Bank Accounts box on the dashboard that I don't need to see, so I would be great to see a useful one!  ( I even tried to re-number that account, trying to manipulate it to show before other accounts, and that didn't work)

Thanks for getting back to us with additional details, SDM2.

For now, we're unable to add the Undeposited Funds account in the Bank Accounts section of your Dashboard. This is because this account is not a real bank, and only serves as a holding account for undeposited payments.

In the meantime, you can continue the usual steps that you've been doing to see the balance. Here's an article that talks about this account for more details: What’s the Undeposited Funds account?.

You'll also want to inactive the accounts that you no longer wants to see in the Chart of Accounts. Follow these steps on how to remove them: Delete an account on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around if you have other questions.
