We can perform some basic troubleshooting steps so that you can get back to work, chinnychinchinke.

As we use the web browser, we may run into trouble with the browser's cache. Occasionally your browser will load your cached info instead of updated portions of the page that you are desiring to view. This can cause a slowdown,  error, or unusual behaviors in QuickBooks.

We can start by:

  1. Opening a private window and use it to access QBSE. You can refer to the keyboard short cuts that I've listed below:

    • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
    • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

  2. Once done, let's try to create a split transaction again then check if we can select the Amount option. If we're able to do it, we'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to get rid of the junk files and stored site data.

  3. If the same thing happens, you can use other supported browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary problem with QuickBooks. As of now, here' s our supported browsers:

    • Google Chrome
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Safari 11 or newer

I've included an article that will guide you in using the split feature: Split and Exclude Transactions.

Let me know how it goes in the comment section, as I want to ensure that you can successfully split your transactions.
