Why can't I create rules for my transactions through the website? I can create rules on the IOS app, but no more online?

Hi there, rachelseav2.

A typical browser's cache stores data from previous websites you've visited. However, as it collects information, it might cause display issues in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). This might be the reason you're unable to create rules for your transactions through the website.

I suggest logging into your QBSE account using a private browser to see if we get the same thing. Browsing privately disables the cache from saving your browsing data, and it's a good way to check issues caused by a full cache.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

  • For Internet Explorer of Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

From there, go back to the Gear icon menu at the upper right and click Rules. If you're able to create rules using a private browser, clear the cache of your regular browser. This eliminates the stored files so it helps the browser to function efficiently. If not, use other supported browsers.

For additional information on how to create and use rules to quickly categorize recent and past transactions, you can refer to this article: Create rules to speed up reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This article also provides on how you can always adjust your rules or delete ones you don't need them.
