Today I reinstalled the QB app, and was told it does not work with my iphone, open in browser. So in browser, I do not see how to set up iphone to track.

To get your QuickBooks Self-Employed app working again, update your iPhone and the app, enable auto-tracking, and verify your device location settings.

Here's how to update your app and iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap General.

  3. Hit Software Update. The currently installed version of iOS is shown, and whether an update is available.

  4. If an update is available, tap Download and Install, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Next, here's how to turn on auto-tracking:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Self-Employed app.
  2. Go to the Mileage menu.
  3. Select Auto-tracking.
  4. Select the Auto-tracking toggle to turn it on. Select the Auto-tracking toggle to turn it on.
  5. Then immediately tap Check mileage settings to confirm everything is configured correctly.

Next, check your device location settings:

  1. Go to your iPhone or iPad's Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select the QuickBooks Self-Employed app.
  3. Select Location. Then select Always. Note: Don't select While Using the App. This option doesn't let the app track your mileage consistently.
  4. Turn on the Motion & Fitness, Background App Refresh, and Cellular Data options.
  5. Close your settings.

Since auto-tracking has been off since July, any trips from then until now won't have been logged automatically you can add those manually in the Mileage tab so your records stay complete.
