Question

How is the correct mileage rate set for the year? I am entering for 2019, but the rate for 2020 shows up.

Let's make sure that you're able to record your trips using the correct rate, caprauna.

Just click the year 2020 and select 2019. That will automatically change the rate from the current rate to $0.58 per mile. Once done, proceed to recording your business trips as usual.

The same details are also shown in my screenshot below. In Addition, let me share these articles to give you other details how QBSE tracks and calculates you mileage deduction:

I tried that in my Quickbooks account and it didn't work.

Thanks for the update, caprauna.

Let me add some information about the correct mileage rate set in QuickBooks.

Before we start, I can see that this post is originally tagged as QuickBooks Online (QBO). I've checked and there's a ticket created that the mileage rate shows an incorrect rate for the previous year. But, the calculation on a trip in 2019 is correct.

I highly recommend contacting our QBO Support Team so they'll pull up your account in a secure environment and add it to the investigation (INV-41542). Doing this will allow our Product Team to send updates regarding the issue via email.

Here's how to get in touch with them:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click (?) Help at the right top.
  3. Select Contact us to connect with a live support agent.
  4. Enter a brief discussion of your concern, then Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way on how to get in touch with them.

You can also refer to this article: Support hours and types, then click QuickBooks Online to know when to contact us at a time convenient to you.

Let me know if you need additional information, and I'm always around to help you out.
