Question

I ran payroll too late and now the "Pay Taxes" option for payroll taxes doesn't show my payment due. How can I pay them?

Paying taxes is still available even if the paychecks are backdated or processed late, allison-samanas.

I'll share the steps with you on how you can pay the taxes from the paychecks that you just created. Here's how:

  1. Under the Payroll Tax tab, click the View all link under the list of taxes that are not yet due.
  2. Look for the taxes that belongs to the payroll that you processed.
  3. Click Record payment and follow the usual process of making the payment.

If you're using electronic payment, you can also go to the EFPTS website and pay the taxes from there. Here's the link: https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/.

If you can't see the View all link at all, I'll share some steps to check if this is caused by a browser issue.

Open an incognito or private browsing session and log back in to your account. Use these keyboard shortcuts to start a new one:

  • Ctrl Shift N  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P  for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari

Then, go back to the Payroll Tax tab to check if you can already see the Pay Taxes button. If you can see it, open a regular browsing session and clear out the stored cache and cookies. Use this article as a guide: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.
