Thank you for reaching out to us with your query about adding QuickBooks Online (QBO) to your Intuit Payroll and the case you encountered regarding employee deletion. I’ll be glad to assist you in understanding why this has happened and how to address it.
Here are the reasons why this is happening:
Inactive Employees: Your current payroll system may have inactive employees. When connecting to QBO, these might show up and need to be marked as such again in QBO.
Adding Existing Employees: If you already have employees in another Intuit Payroll service, QBO will prompt you to override the existing employees or update their information. This wouldn't require deleting anyone.
Migrating from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online: This can also happen when you migrate from QBDT to QBO Payroll. Sometimes, a conflict can happen between the employee data in QuickBooks Desktop and Intuit Online Payroll during the migration. To address this, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll support for them to investigate this further and apply a resolution.
To clarify, could you tell me a little more about this situation?
Did you use a different Intuit Payroll service before connecting to QBO?
Are you seeing a specific message prompting you to delete employees?
With more details, I can guide you through the best way to connect your payroll to QBO without losing any employee data.
You're always welcome to reply below for further details about managing your employee in QuickBooks Online. Rest assured that I'm always here to help you.
I use intuit online payroll, was just changing from QB desktop to QBO. A rep was logged in helping me convert my desktop to my new online QB and during the process it asked me to delete employees. The rep did not know how to fix the problem and suggested I speak to someone else. I have already been charged for the new QBO, $100, but cannot use it.
