Question

I want to pay an employee with direct deposit. My payroll is linked to a bank account already but when I want to make the paycheck, the only option is a "paper check"

It's good that you've already set up the company's bank account, miwirth.

The next thing we need to do change the employee's payment method from paper check to direct deposit. Then, add the employee's bank account. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Workers tab and select Employees.
  2. Click on the employee's name, then select Edit employee.
  3. On the How do you want to pay... drop-down, change it to Direct deposit.
  4. Enter the employee's bank details.
  5. Select Done to save it.

In addition, let's make sure that your bank account has been verified by QuickBooks. After adding your bank details, we need to confirm it by verifying the test transaction. We're unable to run a direct deposit payroll if the bank is unverified.

Once everything is properly set up, please run the payroll 2 business days, before 5:00 PM, prior to the pay date. You can also check the direct deposit setup status to make sure you're good to create a direct deposit check.

Please post again if you have more questions about payroll. I'll be here to help you.
