I would like to deactivate my employee payroll. I don't have employees and I don't want to pay $25. Thank you!

I can walk you through how to deactivate your payroll service, user37016.

Let's ensure that paid any unpaid tax deposits, filed any outstanding quarterly forms, and printed necessary payroll reports before canceling the payroll subscription. Just a heads up, once the account is canceled, you'll have access to the data for six months after the end of the tax year in which that data was collected.

To cancel the service, log in to your QuickBooks Online account as a Master Admin and then follow these steps:

  1. From the Gear icon, select Account and settings.
  2. Select Billing & Subscription from the left menu.
  3. In the Payroll section, select Cancel.
  4. Select Continue to cancel.
  5. Complete the short survey and select Confirm cancel.

If you need to pay employees and contractors or file forms at year-end, you can reactivate your online payroll subscription.

  1. Still from the Gear icon, click Account and Settings.
  2. From the left menu, select Billing & Subscription.
  3. In the Payroll section, select Resubscribed.

You can also get in touch with our Payroll Support Team if you need more help with handling our payroll service.
