Question

Is it possible to limit a user's access to payroll only? If not, how do I submit an enhancement request to do so?

Hi there, @dkirkjohnson

Let me give you some information about user types and permission in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Right now, limiting user's access to payroll only is available in the QBO Advanced version. If you currently subscribe to this version, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select the Manage Users tab.
  3. Choose the Roles tab, then hit Edit in the Action column.
  4. Put a check on Workers, then tap Give access so it will go through.
  5. Hit Next
  6. Edit the contact info if necessary, then click Save

For more information, you may check out this article: Add and manage custom roles in QuickBooks Online Advanced

You also have an option to upgrade your subscription so you can modify the user's access if you're using another version.

Here's how:

  1. Hit Settings on the upper right side.
  2. Choose the Account & Settings tab.
  3. Select Billing and Subscription
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, click Upgrade

       5. Pick QBO Advanced.

       6. Tap Save

To know more about QBO Advanced features and pricing, visit this article: QuickBooks Online Advanced Update

However, if you don't want to upgrade, you can submit an enhancement request by going to the Gear icon. Next is, choose Feedback under Profile, then enter your request in the field, and hit Next

Also, browse these articles about managing user's permission and to view the payment history in QBO.
